Women in prison. Empathetic investigation
Jane Evelyn Atwood
Jane Evelyn Atwood is an investigator of disadvantaged social contexts and situations, with her own simple, elegant style. Women in Prison, which she began in 1989 and which took over 10 years to complete, shows women confined in some of the world’s worst prisons and penitentiary centres, including death row.
This exhibition comprises a series of 60 photographs (original vintage copies) that were shown in 2012 in the retrospective about the photographer at the Maison Européene de la Photographie in Paris.
